Or was that taste, taste, taste. Yes, we are tasting the 2007 wines before we begin bottling today. The 2007s are turning out to be wonderfully balanced wines with much expression of the terrrior. They are very easy to drink, even at this young age.

We are also out in the vineyard today hand hoeing around the new vines in preparation of mowing cover crop and to evaluate winter damage.

Our guests are out wine tasting and enjoying another spring day.

On this beautiful spring morning we are preparing one of our many house specialties, baked cornish eggs. Our guests love them as they are gazing out over the expans of the Willamette Valley and the Cascade Mountains.

wooly buds

Yes, that really is a vineyard term. Yhe buds are swelling and have a little cotton fuss on the end. This takes place just before the buds break open and leaves begin to grow. It is a very exciting time in the vienyard. Our new babies are beginning a new life.
Our guests are out this morning walking in the vineyard observing the miracle of the life of the grape.

A Great Day To Be Alive!

April 4th, 2009 by Nicolette Bailey

It is a beautiful day up on Youngberg Hill Vineyards & Inn. The warm weather this weekend will surely get the grapevine buds to swelling. We are going to be late again this year. The buds are coming out on all the other trees and plants. Flowers a blooming everywhere. It is beautiful up here on the Hill. The grass is lush and green. It will be wonderful for our next Winemaker’s Dinner coming up on May 2nd. It is an exciting time of year.

Now is a wonderful time to visit the Inn and vineyard to enjoy the spectacular views, the peace and quiet of the Inn, and the beauty and serenity of the hill.

The wines are growing marvelously in the cellar. We are going to bottle the 2007 Pinot noir next week after 16 months in barrel. The 2007 vintage is going to be a wonderful wine to drink young with a lot of elegance and character. Well balanced with enough fruit to make it refreshing, enough earthiness to make it intriquing, enough acidity to give it structure, and just enough alcohol to give it zip.
