The fruit just before and after harvest. The fruit tastes wonderful and the numbers are spot on. This years fruit is rich and flavorful. This could be two years back to back of great Oregon Pinot noirs.

tr_wine04Alan and Russell have been working their row of fruit all year in a vineyard package that we auctioned off last year at the Oregon Wine and Art Auction. They have been taking care of their row of vines from pruning through harvest and today are reaping the benefits.

Jess, the tractor driver, is a much better chef than tractor driver as seen by the picture below. He thought the fruit needed a little more earthy flavor.

Well , it appears that the weather is turning for the worse in many areas. We are having rain and wind here as well. Thank goodness the grapes are harvested.

Our guests are enjoying huddling in front of the fireplaces watching the weather go by and enjoying several bottles of wine. It’s a great time to be breaking out some of those older vintages.

Fall!

It just doen’t get any better than this. Sunshine with a high in the upper 60s today. The valley is full of fog and we are above it for a spectacular view. Our guests are enjoying the views and the grapes.

The grapes are also enjoying this perfect weather for ripening, cool and sunny, lowering acidity, not increasing brix, and concentrating flavors. Yum!

Getting ready for harvest today and tomorrow.

Here we go!
