A Busy Week

gliderWe had guest dropping in from many different ways this week. No, by glider was not one of them. This was just a fly by. Howeever, we did have many wine tasters drop in by car, limo, plane and even a helicopter land on the Hill to taste the wines and savor the outstanding views up here on Youngberg Hill.

We’ve had many wonderful guests again this week including another couple from Minnesota. But our furthest traveler was again from Germany.

We were working in the vineyard again this week cutting off fruit after veraison (color change). This is the third cropping and should put us close to harvest targets. I don’t know of many crops that you cut over half the fruit off to reduce yield in order to achieve the quality of fruit (and therefore the wine) that we are striving for.

It’s tough sometimes to see all that fruit laying on the ground. But at least it also has a good cause in putting nutrients back into the soil.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend everyone!
