Oregon Wine Releases

Let’s talk wine today. We are bottling the 2009 Pinot gris and 2009 Pinot noir from fruit purchased from two neighbors in the Willamette Valley along with  fruit from our own pinot gris block, the Aspen Block. The Aspen Block is named after our third daughter who is 3. The block was planted in fall of 2006 and this is the first fruit off the block. That is very exciting, particularly for Aspen.

We fermented both these wines down to about .25% residual sugar, so they are a little dryer than our previous gris and blanc. Both were all stainless ferments and never went into barrel. Both are quite crisp and clean with a little higher acidity. The gris has a hint of banana and the blanc has some citrus components.

We will release them next month, just in time for that warmer summer months and the wedding season.

Cheers.
