What are the Benefits of Joining a Wine Club?

March 25th, 2014 by Rachel

Youngberg Hill Wine Club You love wine.  Perhaps you purchase a few bottles whenever you are at the grocery store, buy a case of your favorites each month, or just sip it at restaurants.  Wine clubs exist specifically for people like you.

The main feature of any wine club is receiving great wines at your doorstep on a regular basis.  Clubs usually send bottles on a monthly, quarterly, or biannual basis.  This is a great feature in itself, as it allows your pallet (and wine cellar) an extra boost consistently.

However, when you sign up with a specific winery – rather than a “wine of the month” club that features several wineries – you get additional benefits.  Some great benefits that we offer in our wine clubs are:

New Releases Delivered: The first thing any good wine club does is deliver great wine from our vineyard to your doorstep.  We send our new releases each May and November.  The number of bottles sent depends upon the type of club the member has signed up to.

Discounts: Youngberg Hill has a very unique set up.  We aren’t just a winery – we are an Inn as well.  This gives us the opportunity to offer our members discounts on stays in our Inn.

Free Tastings: Renewing old acquaintances and meeting new friends is among our favorite things.  So, of course, we offer club members and their guests’ free wine tastings.

Member’s Only Events: It’s true!  We enjoy staying connected with our members – which is why we spoil them with member’s only events.

Exclusive Access: Our Pinot Club members have an opportunity which we reserve for no one else.  They are able to purchase older vintages from our library.  Additionally, the Pinot Club members can schedule a private tasting with food pairing and a 2 hour vineyard/winery tour each year.

Signing up for a wine club with your favorite winery allows you first class access to both the wines and the winery.  We are unique in that we also have an Inn, so even those who sign up to our clubs that live in other states can always visit and enjoy discounts, free tastings, and more.  Additionally, wine clubs give the wine lover (that’s you!) the opportunity to build up a collection of their favorite vintages, and to explore wine and their own pallet more deeply.

Hostesses with the Mostesses

InnkeepersMost of our guests and everyone in the Willamette Valley will agree that our most distinguishing feature is our extraordinary panoramic views from atop the Hill. However, I suggest that our Innkeepers, Becky and Colleen, may be our most distinguishing feature. While our guests always leave mesmerized by their experience with us, it is the personal care that Becky and Colleen take with each and every guest that truly sets us apart.

MEET ARCHER! Oregon Dog Adoption at its best

October 20th, 2013 by Nicolette Bailey

Oregon dog adoptionA few weeks after losing our beloved dog Holly to cancer, we decided to look for a new friend for Dale, and gave dog adoption a try.  Dale really missed Holly and spent every day sad and moping.  The girls wanted a puppy, as they had never had one.   We started looking for a good, mixed breed puppy, but didn’t have much luck.  While researching online, Wayne discovered that the local animal shelter had a dog available for adoption that looked interesting - Archer, a one year old male Queensland Heeler, who was supposed to be good with kids and friendly.

I went to the animal shelter with the kids to visit Archer, and we brought along a list of characteristics that we hoped to find in our ideal new pet:  no jumping or barking as we walked by, no jumping on or pushing over the children, must play well with other dogs, cows, and cats, and must not be afraid of people.  To our surprise, Archer passed all the initial tests!  We adopted Archer, brought him home, and saw that he had potential.  He loves Dale and like any younger dog is driving him crazy with all of his puppy energy.

Dale is now running the property like he used to with Holly.  Archer is very good with the girls and other dogs, and loves car rides.  He is learning to leave the cows alone, but the cats haven’t been so lucky.  Perhaps Archer is trying to herd them, or maybe he just wants to play, but since he has been here our 5 cats have been hard to find.  If anyone knows how to stop dogs from chasing cats, we would love to hear about it!  We hope that you can come up and visit Archer and enjoy the paradise that he lives in.

Celebrate Fall in Oregon Wine Country

September 9th, 2013 by Nicolette Bailey

Oregon Wine country fallIf you’re interested in sampling some of the country’s finest Pinor Noir wines, then fall is a wonderful time to plan a trip to Oregon Wine Country. Throughout the fall months, the hillsides across the Willamette Valley are radiant with the colors of fall.  Deep purple grapes are set against a backdrop of the brilliant oranges, bright yellows, and deep reds associated with the harvest season.  Driving through the valley is stunning, only made better when you stop in our amazing tasting room to sample the wines produced here.

As we head into the fall months, Willamette Valley Wineries are busy getting ready for the harvest season.  If you’re looking for some harvest-related fun, then head to the 23rd annual Grape Stomp and Harvest Celebration at Willamette Valley Vineyards on September 21st and 22nd.  Visitors from all over the country compete in teams for the title, as well as to earn a trip to Santa Rosa, California for the World Grape Stomp Championships.  Come dressed in costumes, enjoy the live music, and get ready for some great family fun in Oregon Wine Country.  On Saturday, October 5th, spend the day with the North Willamette Vintners as they prepare for the 2013 Oregon wine harvest during the North Willamette Harvest Trail and Grand Tasting.  Here, you’ll learn all about the wine harvest, and enjoy a guided bus tour to three different Willamette Valley wineries for tastings and other harvest-related activities.  At Youngberg Hill Vineyards, we’re always looking for volunteers to help us with sorting during the fall harvest.  If you’re interested, please email us for more information.

Select Registry Member

July 13th, 2011 by Nicolette Bailey

Youngberg Hill is a proud Member of Select Registry.  What makes Select Registry membership so special?  Perhaps the most important distinction between a Select Registry member inn and any other is our system of quality assurance. Select Registry carries out a quality assurance inspection of each  inns. This program involves independent inspectors – not employees of Select Registry – with years of experience in the hospitality industry. The inspectors arrive anonymously, spend the night, and evaluate the inn based on a detailed point system, which translates into a pass/fail grade for the inn.  Thus, this process provides a guarantee to the traveling public that a Select Registry inn is in a class of its own.  No other online directory or organization of innkeepers has a comparable inspection program. Select Registry has established quality as a hallmark of its member properties.   All of our inns are “the best” – and our inspections prove it! Youngberg Hill is a location you Must see in your lifetime.

Another Great Review From A Guest

5 of 5 starsReviewed June 7, 2011- NEW

The Inn was a beautiful, relaxing place to vacation at. My room was lovely, with a gas fireplace that I lit each night before bed for awhile. The view from my room on the second floor as well as the living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor was spectacular. The Inn was exceptionally clean. We had a wonderful breakfast served each morning that was both unique and delicious. Our hosts were very delightful from Becky who prepared breakfast each morning and gave helpful suggestions as to good places to visit in the area to the owner/ winemaker who welcomed us and shared the history of the Inn during our evening wine tastings.
